ShiftMate FAQ & Help - Shift Schedule, Alarms, Sharing & Backup
Find answers to common questions about shifts, alarms, backups and sharing. Tap a question to see the answer.
1) Shift setup, sharing & display
Q. The shift type I need is not in the list. What can I do?
In shift settings, you can add a new shift type or edit one you do not use.
2) Alarms & notifications
Q. Can I use an MP3 file on my phone as an alarm sound?
This is supported on Android only. Go to Settings → Alarm → Alarm Sound, tap the MP3 button and choose a file.
Q. The alarm is too quiet on my iPhone. How can I turn it up?
On your iPhone, go to Settings → Sounds & Haptics and increase the ringtone and alert volume. After adjusting it, check the alarm sound again.
3) Data storage, backup & restore
Q. Where is my data stored?
Your shifts, notes, time-off and attendance records, and shift-sharing information are automatically backed up to Google Cloud.
Calendar events use your phone’s calendar and are not backed up separately by ShiftMate. Depending on your calendar service settings, events may sync with the connected calendar account.
Q. How do I restore my data when I get a new phone?
Sign in with the same account you used before. Your backed-up shifts, notes, time-off and attendance records, and shift-sharing information will be restored automatically.
For calendar events, check that your previous calendar account is connected and syncing. Events stored only on your old phone may need to be transferred separately.
4) Events & calendar settings
Q. How can I hide unwanted events or duplicate holidays, observances and seasonal calendar entries?
Tap an event to check which calendar it belongs to. Then go to App settings → Calendar and deselect that calendar.
This does not delete the events. It hides that calendar’s events in ShiftMate, including any other events in the same calendar.
5) Sharing link troubleshooting
Q. “Open in app” does not work on a sharing link. What should I do?
A sharing link may not open ShiftMate correctly if it is viewed inside another app.
Open the More menu and choose “Open in browser” or a similar option.
If that option is not available, copy the link and open it in an external browser, such as Chrome or Safari.
6) Device compatibility & multiple devices
Q. Can iPhone and Android users share shifts with each other?
Yes. You can share shifts between iPhone and Android.
View shared shifts on the coworker shifts screen, and refresh to see any changes.
Q. Can I use ShiftMate across my phone, tablet and other devices?
We are preparing multi-device support so you can use your data across devices with syncing. Availability and further details will be announced later.
Data backup and restore are separate from multi-device syncing.
7) Managing coworkers
Q. Can I organize coworkers into groups?
A separate groups feature is not currently available. You can use colors to distinguish the shifts of coworkers and family members.
